The Quotes:

"...Tackles weighty spiritual matters with a refreshing lack of self-consciousness..." -Martin Huxley (Music World)

"Could be the unsung hero of the Austin music scene..." -Texas Troubadours

"We're not talking about laying out a few riffs here and there or one guitar solo. Wayne plays consistently impressive riffs everywhere from powerhouse chords to smooth slides. The sounds he can summon from a guitar are nothing short of impressive." -Austin live .com

"If you're looking for something different or just some damn good tunes check out Wayne Sutton..." -Texas Troubadours

"Wayne writes songs about what lies at the heart of human experience; hopelessness, desperation, love and death, and he does it with an emotional integrity that is both startling and refreshing..." -Duncan Burch

The Short Bio:

Wayne Sutton has made his living as a songwriter and musician since moving to Austin, Texas in 1991. He was a founding member of band Little Sister, later know as Sister Seven, and his distinctive guitar playing was an integral part of the band's unique sound and a driving force behind the energy of their live shows. He played with the band for over a decade, and in that time they signed with two major record labels and released five albums. They also toured extensively throughout the U.S. and in Europe, sharing the stage with a number of prominent bands such as Blues Traveler, Widespread Panic, and former Creedence Clearwater Revival front-man John Fogerty.

Since the break-up of Sister Seven in 2001, Wayne has collaborated on a variety of projects with numerous bands and musicians in the Austin area. He has also found time to record and produce a solo record, last year's Heart of the Donkey, a critically acclaimed collection of original songs that reveal him to be as formidable a songwriter as he is a guitar player. To promote the album, he has been touring with his band, Wayne's Donkey, as well as playing solo shows, and he has also continued to collaborate on various musical projects. Most recently and notably, Wayne co-wrote the song "My three wishes", with Patrice Pike, and won the US Songwriting Competition.

One project undertaken in 2004 is working with the Austin Volunteer Orchestra (AVO), a rotating musical ensemble consisting of some of Austin's finest independent talent. Wayne is one of the founding members of AVO, and he took on much of the responsibility for the musical direction of the ensemble. The group, whose projects are designed to benefit the audience and artists that make up the Austin music community, has already played several shows to benefit, Instruments for Orphans (IFO), a philanthropic initiative to bring music and musical equipment to those in the community who are most in need of it. Wayne continues to contribute time and music to the Kid's CD project to help fund IFO.
